วันที่ 21 กรกฎาคม 2567 วิทยาลัยการปกครองท้องถิ่น มข. (COLA KKU) นำนักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนจาก University of Baguio ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ร่วมกับนักศึกษา COLA เรียนรู้วัฒนธรรมและวิถีชาวนาอีสาน ร่วมลงแขกดำนา ช่วยชาวบ้านดงพอง อ.เมือง จ.ขอนแก่น กิจกรรมดังกล่าวเป็นการเปิดประสบการณ์การเรียนรู้วิถีชีวิตชาวนาจากพื้นที่จริง นักศึกษาได้เห็นและลองปลูกข้าวด้วย “การดำนา” แบบดั้งเดิมซึ่งหาชมได้ยากมากในยุคปัจจุบัน
โครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาระหว่าง COLA และ University of Baguio (UB) ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ ได้จัดร่วมกันมาอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นปีที่ 3 ในรอบปีนี้ UB ได้ส่งนักศึกษาจำนวน 8 คน มาเรียนและแลกเปลี่ยนกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ทั้งด้านวิชาการ ด้านภาษา สังคม และวัฒนธรรม และร่วมจัดกิจกรรมเพื่อสร้างเสริมบรรยากาศการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษและความเป็นนานาชาติให้แก่ COLA ในปี 2567 นี้ ยังได้รับความร่วมมือจาก KKBS ในการร่วมจัดรายวิชาให้นักศึกษาแลกเปลี่ยนจาก UB ร่วมชั้นเรียนกับนักศึกษาที่ศึกษาในหลักสูตรนานาชาติของคณะอีกด้วย
COLA, UB Students Experience Traditional Rice Planting in Khon Kaen
Students from the College of Local Administration and the international exchange students from the University of Baguio, Philippines, gathered in Dong Phong Village, Khon Kaen province last July 20, 2024 to experience traditional rice planting with local farmers. This event provided a hands-on experience at the agricultural practices that are essential to Thailand’s local economy particularly in terms of rice production.
During the event, students immersed themselves in learning the detailed steps of rice planting. Witnessing such labor-intensive work gave the students a new appreciation for the efforts involved in growing rice in the country.
Overall, the event served as a cultural exchange, helping both the Thai and Filipino students to understand the cultural and economic significance of rice and the farming practices in Thailand.
Thailand, next to India, is the world’s second-largest rice exporter, shipping approximately 8.2 million metric tons according to the latest data from Statista. Notably, Khon Kaen province also had the highest production volume of rice in the northeastern region of Thailand last year.
